Concrete forms an essential part of Minecraft and is particularly important to players looking to build awe-inspiring structures in the game.
This guide will help you understand how to make Concrete in Minecraft from scratch!
What is Concrete in Minecraft
Concrete is one of the several building blocks in Minecraft. Concrete cannot be directly made using a crafting table. It is often utilized by players to build structures owing to the numerous colors that it is available in. Concrete can be made in 16 different colors based on the color of the dye used.
Required Materials to Craft Concrete
There are a few items that you will need to craft concrete in Minecraft.
- 4 pieces of Sand
- 4 pieces of Gravel
- Water Bucket
For large-scale projects using Concrete blocks you will require plenty of Sand and Gravel.
Luckily for you, Sand is quite common in Minecraft. It can be found in deserts, on islands in the ocean, and on banks of water bodies. Using Shulker Boxes and a Diamon Shovel is the fastest way to mine and collect Sand.
Gravel Mountain Biomes are littered across the map and are the easiest way to mine large quantities of Gravel. Just as with Sand, using Shulkers is the best method to amass large amounts. Just note that the shovel used to mine Gravel must not be enchanted with Fortune since it makes the Gravel blocks more likely to drop flint.
How to Make Concrete in Minecraft
Concrete can be crafted in various colors depending on the type of dye used. There are 16 different dyes available in Minecraft. They can be obtained by a combination of trading, smelting, and crafting. Many of the dyes must be crafted by combining two different dyes. White dyes are typically made from bones, red from roses, yellow from flowers, blue from lapis, and black from ink sacks. If you want to make grey dye, for instance, you must combine white dye with black dye.
The next step is to craft concrete powder. Making concrete powder requires 4 pieces of Sand, 4 pieces of Gravel, and any type of Dye. You will also need a crafting table.
Select the crafting table. A 3×3 grid will appear on your screen. Place the dye in the center of the grid. To the immediate top, bottom, left, and right of the dye in the center block, place a piece of Sand. In the 4 remaining blocks of the grid, which are also the 4 corners of the grid, place a piece of Gravel.
You will obtain 8 pieces of Concrete Powder in the color of the dye used. The color of the concrete powder cannot be changed once it is created.
Now that you have blocks of Concrete Powder, it is time to make Concrete. Getting Concrete Powder into contact with water will convert it to Concrete Blocks. Just like Gravel and Sand, Concrete Powder does not float on water. It requires something to be present below it to stay on the surface of the water. Hence, dropping it in a water body and collecting Concrete is not feasible, since it sinks to the bottom. The most direct method to make concrete is to pour water on it using a water bucket. Place concrete powder on the ground. Select the water bucket from your hot bar. Put the water onto the powder.
Fast Concrete Crafting Hacks
There are several other ways in which you can quickly create numerous Concrete Blocks.
One of the simplest methods of making a large number of concrete blocks is stacking blocks of concrete powder up. Use a water bucket and pour water from the top of the tower. Water runs down the sides of the makeshift concrete powder tower. If you have stacked it up correctly, the water comes into contact with every block of concrete powder present, converting them to Concrete. Mine the Concrete, and repeat the process as many times as needed.
Build the Structure
A smart way to craft blocks of Concrete without having to mine blocks is building the required structure with Concrete Powder. Then, cover the blocks using water so that they are all converted to Concrete. For example, if you are building a concrete wall, then first construct it out of the concrete powder. Finally, from the top of the wall, pour water to turn the entire wall into blocks of Concrete.
Mining near Waterbody
Another simple method of mining Concrete is to stand near a waterbody with a pickax in one hand and Concrete Powder in the other. Hold both the left and right mouse buttons to quickly mine Concrete.
