How to Make an Ender Portal in Minecraft STEP-BY-STEP

Quick Method

This method requires you to build the End Portal from scratch.

Step 1 – Gather Ingredients

The Ender Portal Frame is a block that cannot be crafted. You can find it in stronghold portal rooms. Break the block to add it to your inventory. Eye of Enders, on the other hand, can be crafted. Open the 3×3 Crafting Grid. Place a Blaze Powder in the first slot of the second row, and an Ender Pearl in the second slot of the second row. All other slots will be left empty. You will obtain an Eye of Ender with this recipe.

Step 2 – Building the Frame

You require 12 End Portal Frames if you are building the frame yourself. First up, place 3 End Portal Frames next to each other in a single line to make one side of the portal. Next up, pivot your character to the right, and place 3 more Frames in a single file. You must place these such that the green tab is pointing inwards. Ensure that the two lines of Frames are not adjacent to each other, but only meet at the corners. Repeat this step 2 more times such that all 4 sides around you are filled with End Portal Frames.

Step 3 – Add the Eye of Ender

To complete the End Portal, the 12 Eyes of Ender need to be added. You must do so in a particular manner. Stand at the center and open each of the End Portal Frames. You can then add the Eye of Ender to each of these blocks when it is open. Do this for 11 out of the 12 End Portal Frame blocks. For the final Eye of Ender, be sure not to be standing at the center when you add it. This is because the portal will get activated as soon as you put the Eye into the Frame, and you will fall directly to the End. You must also ensure that all the eyes of Ender are facing towards the center of the portal

Step 4 – Add the last Eye of Ender

Step outside the portal or use the Creative mode to fly above. Now add the final Eye of Ender. The End Portal will now be opened. You have successfully made a way to the End!

Traditional Method

In this method, the End Portal can be found assembled.

Step 1 – Find Stronghold

To find a Stronghold in the Minecraft, you need to use an Eye of Ender. Equip the Eye of Ender from your Hotbar and throw it in the air. You will observe that the Eye of Ender goes up, hovers in the air for a few seconds, and drops back down. The direction in which it goes is where the Stronghold is located. If the Eye of Ender does not break, you can pick it up and use it again. Keep doing this until the Eye of Ender hovers above a single spot, which indicates that you are standing directly above the Stronghold. Dig downwards from this spot to reach the Stronghold.

Step 2 – Explore the Stronghold

Once you have entered the Stronghold, explore the hallways to search for the End Portal Frame. There is a good chance that you will not find the portal when you dig down directly. You need patience and to spend some time going through the Stronghold. You will find numerous chests in the Stronghold. Eventually, you will reach an unactivated End Portal.

Step 3 – Place Eyes of Ender

The End Portal will be present with 12 Frames. You need to put an Eye of Ender inside each of these blocks. There should be 1 or 2 Eye of Enders that have already been placed. Place the remaining 10 or 11 Eyes of Ender to finish the portal.

Step 4 – Activate the Portal

When you place the final Eye of Ender, the portal will activate. Step into the End Portal to reach the End.
