So you want to play Minecraft but it's not responding. That is so annoying, but don't panic. This is a common issue and in this article, I'm going to show you how to fix it. Although Minecraft has basic graphics and relatively simple gameplay, it can be surprisingly demanding. If players are using an old household PC, it may not meet the minimum requirements to run Minecraft. This can cause numerous issues during gameplay, and can often lead to unresponsive screens. Minecraft is coded in the Java programming language, and outdated Java may be causing issues with the game. Make sure to download the appropriate file according to your computer’s operating system. Extract the downloaded file and install it. Disable the Discord Overlay Many players use Discord while playing Minecraft, to discuss with other players and also stream the game. Sometimes, however, using a Discord Overlay can cause Minecraft to not respond. You must disable the overlay or close the application completely to fix the issue. Step 1 Close Minecraft and other unnecessary applications using the Windows Task Manager Step 2 Open Discord, and click on the settings icon on the bottom left of the screen. Driver updates can be set to automatic or manual. Automatic updates are convenient and will ensure that you do not have any outdated drivers on your PC. Disable Incompatible Applications Certain software, particularly anti-virus applications, are well known to cause numerous issues with Minecraft. Even when disabled, they can block programs and applications that you don’t want to be blocked. Uninstalling these applications and replacing it with an alternative works best! Certain game enhancement software such as Razer Synapse and GeForce Experience are also known to cause freezes and crashes of Minecraft. Numerous free and paid VPN services also cause login related issues. Disabling or uninstalling such software can help fix issues. Disable Mods Minecraft has thousands of mods created by its extensive modding community. They enhance your Minecraft experience and ad a lot of elements that make the game more fun and realistic. Sometimes, however, mods can cause issues with Minecraft. Disabling them may help you solve these problems and run the game smoothly. Mod can be disabled using game launchers such as Forge and Twitch. Alternatively, you can locate the exact mod files, and add a disabled’ to the end of the file name. You can also move the mod files to a different directory, When you want to enable the mods again, you can remove the disabled’ appended to the file name, or just move the file back from the other directories. Restart your computer once to ensure that the changes are reflected. Run Minecraft as Administrator Sometimes, Minecraft may be unable to use all the available resources since access is restricted. Running the game as an administrator may help fix issues. Follow these steps to run the game as an administrator. Step 1 Navigate to the game directory. You will need to find the executable file used to launch the game from this main director. Step 2 Right-click on the executable file. A drop-down menu will appear. Click on Properties from this menu. Step 3 A small window will open with some tabs. Select the tab named ompatibility’. Towards the bottom, you will see an option named un this program as an administrator’. Check the box to enable the feature. Then click on Apply to the bottom right and then OK. Launch Minecraft and see if it works without issues. Reinstall the Game The last resort is reinstalling Minecraft on your PC. Step 1 Click the Windows Logo Key and R simultaneously to open Run. Step 2 Type ppwoz.cpl’ into Run and click OK. Step 3 Right-click on Minecraft and then choose Uninstall Step 4 Reopen the Run box and type appdata%’. Step 5 A window will open. Right-click on the folder named minecraft’ and click on Delete to ensure that all temporary and app files are removed from the system. Step 6 Restart your PC.
